Rep. John L. Bowman
94th General Assembly
Rep. John L. Bowman, a Democrat, represents part of St. Louis County (District 70) in the Missouri House of Representatives. Elected to the House in 2004, Rep. Bowman works at Daimler Chrysler and is a 28-year UAW member.
Rep. Bowman previously represented the 70th district from 2000-2002 in the Missouri House of Representatives. As a state representative, Bowman served as vice-chair of the House Committee on Education until moving to the House Committee on Economic Development where he served as vice-chair. Rep. Bowman also held the position of vice-chair for the House Committee on Labor. During his career in the Missouri House, Rep. Bowman sponsored various pieces of legislation including: ensuring financial instruction was available to all Missouri student and voting to fully fund the foundation formula for education. In 2002, Rep. Bowman was named to the Minority Business Comission. Prior to his service in the house, Rep. Bowman served as Alderman for the City of Northwoods from 1996-2000.
Throughout his career, Rep. Bowman has been awarded the Excellence in Community Service Award, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award; the P.A.L. Redbird Rookies Award, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce “Spirit of Enterprise” Award for sponsoring legislation ensuring financial instruction is available to all Missouri student. Bowman was also awarded the UAW/Daimler Chrysler Co-Chairs Award and The St. Louis Business Journal named him Legislator of the Year in 2002. He attends Ascension-St. Paul Church in St. Louis County.
Rep. Bowman received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration from Fontbonne College.
Born on July 1, 1956, Rep. Bowman has been a resident of St. Louis County for over 20 years and currently lives in Northwoods.
