Rep. Judy Baker
94th General Assembly
Rep. Judy Baker, a Democrat, represents part of Boone County (District 25) in the Missouri House of Representatives. Elected to the House in 2004, Rep. Baker is a Adjunct Professor of Managerial Economics at Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri and a Healthcare Consultant and a Managing Partner at Cura Advantage, a healthcare consulting firm.
In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Baker is a member of the Columbia Kiwanis Club and attends the First Baptist Church of Columbia where she has served as a deacon. Rep. Baker serves her community by serving on the board of the Boone County Community Partnership and the advisory board for the Bradford Farm Research Center. Rep. Baker was elected President of the Democratic Women’s Caucus for the House Democrats for the 2007-2008 session. She also started the “American Dream” caucus and is President of Healthy Missourians caucus. She is a member of Healthcare Information Technology Champions for National Council of State Legislators; a Board Member for the Mid-Missouri Community Action Agency; an Advisory Board Member for the Center for Health Transformation; and a member of Griffiths Leadership Society for Women.
Throughout her career Rep. Baker has been awarded the Optimist Club Regional Outstanding Youth Award and was recognized in the Who’s Who American Colleges and Universities publication in 1986. She also served as lead judge for the Missouri Team Quality Award. Rep. Baker has also been recognized as an “Emerging Healthcare Leader” by the N.C.S.L. She also received the committed Statesperson Award for 2007 from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Missouri Parent Teacher Association recognized Rep. Judy Baker with the organization’s “A Better Missouri for Children” award on January 14, 2008.
A 1978 graduate of Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, Rep. Baker received a Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Psychology in 1981 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She also received a Masters degree in Divinity from Southern Seminary in 1986 and a Masters of Health Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2002.
Born on April 10, 1960, in Columbia, Missouri, Rep. Baker lives in Columbia with her husband John. They have three children: Sarah, Lauren and David
